Vancouver and its surrounding area is home to one of the best food scenes in Canada. You can find great Japanese, Indian, Vietnamese, Greek, Italian cuisine, and more. But, what we’re going to focus on today is pizza. From casual to authentic Neopitian wood-fired pizzas, we’ve tracked down the 10 best pizza joints in Greater Vancouver.

Example Shared Story Block

The following story block was created as a shared story block and can be reused across articles.

1. AJ’s Brooklyn Pizza Joint (Vancouver)

One of the most popular - and rightly so - pizza restaurants in Vancouver is AJ’s Brooklyn Pizza Joint. This spot serves up Brooklyn-style pizza in a casual, small restaurant setting. The owner was born and raised in Brooklyn, living there for 30 years before moving to Vancouver, BC. And he has successfully brought the taste of New York to Canada. The pizza names on the menu all tie back to spots in Brooklyn the owner used to frequent during his childhood or his family members.

You can get anything from thin slices to Sicilian pies here. The restaurant makes most things in-house - from the sauce to the pizza dough.

Our favorite pie is Juno’s Semi Spicy Fun Guy, which comes with tomato sauce, mozzarella, hot calabrese, mushrooms, and pepperoncini.

2. Via Tevere (Vancouver)

Via Tevere is the spot in Vancouver for authentic Neopilitian wood-fired pizza. And, they have the certificate to prove it! Via Tevere is member #399 of the Associazione Vera Pizza Napoletana (AVPN). The AVPN certification from Naples protects the original and traditional way to make Neopolitan pizza.

This restaurant is perfect for a romantic night on the town. You’ll have great cocktails and a wonderful ambiance as you enjoy your delicious pizza. The pies come in three options: red sauce, cream sauce, or olive oil-based. Come here and try a classic like the Napoletana, which comes with tomato, mozzarella, anchovies, and basil.

Just a warning - this restaurant has a line at dinner time every night of the week, so be prepared to wait for your table!

3. Novo Pizzeria & Wine Bar (Vancouver)

Novo Pizzeria is another option for Neopilitian wood-fired pizza in British Columbia. It's all about the details at this restaurant. The dough is aged for 72 hours and the ingredients on the pizza are local whenever possible. Lastly, the pizza is baked in a 900-degree wood-burning oven that's front and center for everyone to see.

When visiting here, we highly recommend the Chorizo salami pizza, which comes with chili honey, fresh mozzarella, basil, and ricotta. It's the perfect balance of spicy, sweet, and savory. You might just want to order two!

4. Pizzeria Barbarella (Vancouver)

For a more modern take on pizza, check out Pizzeria Barbarella. This casual restaurant likes to make the classics, as well as serve up fun and unique creations. The portions are large, the ingredients are fresh, and the service is always friendly. Pizzeria Barbarella also serves up craft beer from local breweries, so you can really get a taste of British Columbia.

Our favorite pie here is the Fungi which comes with a bechamel sauce, roasted cremini mushrooms, truffle oil, rosemary, and green onion.

5. Straight Outta Brooklyn NYC Pizzeria (Vancouver)

Straight Outta Brooklyn has taken the concept of slice pizza and elevated it. This might be a chain that offers quick and cheap slices, but it beats anyone else in Vancouver trying to do the same thing. In fact, despite only being open for a few years, this pizza spot has quickly opened up three successful locations across the city.

You stop at Straight Outta Brooklyn on your lunch break or when you need a quick bite before a long evening ahead of you. So, of course, you have to get the classic pepperoni. The best part? While Canadian slices typically tend to be smaller, Straight Outta Brooklyn stays true to its name with its enormous American-size portions.

6. Pizzeria Spacca Napoli (Port Moody)

The first restaurant outside of Vancouver on this list is Pizzeria Spacca Napoli, located in the suburbs of Port Moody. This family-run pizzeria has won countless awards, including first place in the Vancouver Foodster Pizza Challenge.

The pizza here is Neopolitan style, cooked in a wood-burning oven. Guests are given scissors to cut their pizza easily without scrunching up the toppings.

It's hard to choose just one pizza off the menu, but the restaurant calls the Maradona "a tribute to the God of Naples." With a name like that, how can you not try it? The Maradona comes with a spicy salami spread, provolone cheese Auricchio, fresh basil, and mozzarella.

7. Nicli Antica Pizzeria (North Vancouver)

Nicli Antica Pizzeria's mission is to share "four generations of Nicli family culinary traditions" with the world. The pizzeria believes in using fresh, local ingredients whenever possible and provides an expansive menu that appeals to all tastes. And accommodations for guests with dietary restrictions (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free) can easily be made.

This is a fun, family-friendly restaurant that has a large patio for outside dining. Nicli Antica boasts it has the best pizza in North Vancouver, and we have to say they're probably right! The must-try dish from here is the Mortadella which comes with pea pesto, mortadella, bufala mozzarella, chili flakes, grana padano, pistachios, and lemon zest.

8. Nook (Vancouver)

In 2009, co-owners Nicole and Mike created Nook. They wanted to bring to Vancouver a spot where people could go for great pizza, fantastic wine, and a fun atmosphere. Fast forward to more than a decade later, and Nook has expanded to four locations, all of which deliver delicious pies.

The pizza that everyone talks about here is the Housemade Sausage which comes with three chilies ( goat horn, Calabrian, Sicilian), cheese, and basil. It's simple, spicy, and filling. The cocktails at Nook are delicious - but strong - so plan for a ride home!

9. The Parlour (Vancouver)

The Parlour isn't like any other pizza spot in Vancouver. Located in the trendy area of Yaletown in downtown Vancouver, this restaurant turns into a lounge with bottle service on weekend nights. So, you might start your night off with a pizza dinner and end up staying for drinks and dancing!

Whether you're interested in the night scene or not, no one can deny that the Parlour serves up incredible pizzas. Their pizzas are made in-house, offering "an elegant twist on comfort cuisine." Their most popular pizza is the Goldmember which comes with caramelized onions, mushroom duxelles, Yukon gold potatoes, truffle oil, gruyere, and mozzarella.

10. Pizzeria Grano (Vancouver)

It wouldn't be a list about the food scene in British Columbia without mentioning vegan food. Our last spot goes to Pizzeria Grano, an all-vegan pizza spot that truly delivers on taste. This spot has won over the hearts of vegans and carnivores throughout the city.

Grano uses primarily fresh, sustainable, local ingredients and selects to import a few key elements. There's a large wood-fire oven right in the middle of the restaurant so you can see the pizza being made right in front of your eyes. The pizza here that can never steer you wrong is the Diavola. This pie comes with tomato sauce, cashew mozzarella, plant-based pepperoni, Calabrian chili, Nicoise olives, and oregano. You'll have trouble believing it's vegan!

We're betting this list has you drooling by this point. So, which pizza is on the menu tonight?
